Louisville Diesel RepairBy Interstate And Exit

Superior's shop is already inside the city, at 3816 Bishop Lane. Three of the four drives on this page begin the same way, Poplar Level Road up to I-264, and from there a service truck can swing onto I-64, I-65, I-71 or I-265 toward the exit where your unit stopped.

Which Interstate Are You Stuck On?

I-64, I-65 and I-71 all have exits close to downtown, and I-264 and I-265 run around the city farther out. Find the road you're on below, note the exit number you passed last, and read that number to dispatch when you call.

Louisville's I-264 Exits

Henry Watterson and Shawnee Expressway

The drives from Bishop Lane to downtown, the Ford plant and Mill Creek all climb onto I-264 first from Poplar Level Road. OpenStreetMap lists it under two names, the Henry Watterson Expressway and the Shawnee Expressway, so the exit number is the clearer thing to say on the phone.

Kentucky Turnpike

I-65 comes into Louisville over the Kennedy and Lincoln bridges and heads south through the city. Exit 137 is the downtown end, and exit 125 is out toward the south edge, past the Ford Louisville Assembly Plant.

I-64 crosses into the city on the Sherman Minton Bridge. Exits 3, 4 and 5B sit on the west and downtown stretch, and I-71's exit 1A is right beside exit 5A. A tech can reach a unit on either interstate from the same I-264 and I-65 run.

I-265, the outer road

I-265 runs well outside I-264. Exits 19 and 23 are on the east side of the city, and 32 and 34 are up in the northeast. Breakdowns out here are a longer drive from Bishop Lane than the downtown exits, and dispatch still takes the call any hour.

Semi Truck Repair At Any Louisville Exit

Louisville semi truck repair calls leave from a city address: Superior Truck & Trailer, 3816 Bishop Lane. No road call here starts in another county. Metro Hall downtown sits about 8 miles off via I-264 and I-65, around 14 minutes when traffic is light.

The far corners take longer. The Ford Louisville Assembly Plant is about 6 miles out and GE Appliance Park about 5, while the Mill Creek Generating Station in the southwest is closer to 19 miles, using I-264 and then US 31W.

Interstate trouble in Louisville tends to look like a popped air line, a tire gone flat, a derate, or a Louisville tractor that simply won't fire. When the shoulder isn't a workable place for the repair, the work shifts to Bishop Lane and the unit never leaves the city.

Drive Times To Each Side Of Louisville.

Four spots spread across the city, and the actual driving line to each. Downtown and the Ford plant use the interstates. GE Appliance Park is a surface-road run using KY 864 plus KY 2052, and Mill Creek is the long haul out Dixie Highway.

Louisville fleets

Yard Service Without Crossing Town

Louisville fleets can skip the cross-town run on I-264 for routine service. Superior sends a technician with tools and parts out to the yard whenever the schedule allows.

What a city fleet keeps up with

  • Maintenance booked around the loads
  • A current annual DOT inspection
  • Diagnostics when a code pops up

A Technician At Your Louisville Yard

Fluids, brakes, electrical checks and inspections are all yard jobs in Louisville. The tractor stays parked, and no driver loses a shift to a shop run.

The Shop Is In The City Too

Engine repair and rebuilds, DPF and EGR jobs, and alignments come into Bishop Lane. It's a Louisville address, so the unit stays on city roads the whole trip there and back.

Working trucks, real shop work

The work happens here, on the road and in the bay.

The trucks, trailers, service vehicles, roadside calls and shop work behind the services on this site. This is the kind of commercial equipment Superior works on every day in and around Louisville.

Louisville interstate questions

Before You Call From The Shoulder.

The questions drivers ask when a truck quits on a Louisville interstate. Anything not covered here, ask dispatch directly.

(502) 789-6644
Who sends a mechanic to I-65 in Louisville when a semi quits?

Yes. 24/7 Mobile & Roadside Assistance covers I-65 through the city, from exit 137 downtown to exit 125 on the south side. Have your direction and last exit ready when you dial (502) 789-6644.

How many miles is downtown Louisville from your shop?

About 8 miles, or around 14 minutes with open roads. The route leaves Bishop Lane for Poplar Level Road, gets onto I-264, and I-65 northbound for the downtown exits.

Which Louisville interstates do you cover?

All five that run through the city: I-64, I-65, I-71, I-264 and I-265. Road calls go out to all five around the clock.

Is I-264 the Watterson Expressway or the Shawnee Expressway?

It carries both names. OpenStreetMap lists I-264 as the Henry Watterson Expressway and the Shawnee Expressway, so read the exit number off the sign and mention your travel direction.

Where do I take a semi for engine work in Louisville?

Bring it to 3816 Bishop Lane #1, Louisville, KY 40218. General Diesel Repair there handles the diagnostic work, the EGR and DPF side, and engines up to full rebuilds. If the truck won't drive, mobile and roadside service can start on it where it sits.

Does Superior do DOT annuals at Louisville truck yards?

Yes. Louisville yards can book DOT Inspections on site, following 49 CFR 396.17, and any item that fails is repaired while the technician is still there. Units can also come to the shop. The rest of Jefferson County gets the same service.
